"Safety trumps everything we do, including
production and profit."
- J. Brett Harvey
At CONSOL Energy, safety is at the core of everything we do
because it concerns our most important asset: our people. Our
safety record is nearly two times better than the industry average
and has been both nationally and internationally recognized.
However, we are not satisfied with simply improving our safety
statistics. We are committed to working completely injury-free. Our
Absolute Zero safety initiative sets zero accidents as the only
acceptable result.
To achieve this new standard of safety, CONSOL Energy is
investing in technology and human resources to identify problems,
improve on-site communication and enhance safety equipment. We are
also creating an environment where safety is both expected and
rewarded. Through training and financial incentives our world-class
training program will teach employees that they are empowered to
stop operations if they believe that safety is being
compromised.
Celebrating Five Years of Absolute ZERO
In the spring of 2012, we celebrated the fifth anniversary
of CONSOL Energy's Absolute ZERO value system. The success of this
program is based on the premise that ZERO accidents is normal and
that an accident -any accident- is uncharacteristic and
inconsistent with our values. In celebration of the ongoing safety
efforts of our workforce, we have taken the time to explore where
the company has been, where we are now, and where Absolute ZERO
will lead us. CONSOL's CEO J. Brett Harvey and President Nick
DeIuliis commemorate this journey by discussing the continuous
improvement of company-wide safety standards and each employee's
and contractor's commitment to the personal value of safety.
