Coal Powers Our Daily Life
We are committed to providing that resource to communities across the nation. We strive to do our jobs safely, compliantly and in a way that positively impacts the communities in which we live and work.
The CONSOL Energy that we know today holds some of the best coal assets in the world. We own and operate the Pennsylvania Mining Complex, the Baltimore Marine Terminal, and control over 1 billion tons of undeveloped reserves.
Staying true to our core values
The Appalachian Region is, once again, a global energy powerhouse. CONSOL Energy is changing too. But our core values will never change. They are:
- Safety – for all employees, contractors and communities in which we live and work.
- Compliance – with both the letter and spirit of applicable laws and regulations.
- Continuous Improvement – in both processes and performance.
Mining Operations
The Pennsylvania Mining Complex, located in Greene and Washington counties, is the largest underground coal mine complex in North America. Consisting of the Bailey, Enlow Fork and Harvey mines, along with the central preparation plant and train loadout facility. It is among the safest and most productive complexes in the world.

From Baltimore to the World’s Energy Market
Marine Terminal
Strategically located in the Port of Baltimore, CONSOL Energy’s Baltimore Marine terminal is one of two coal export terminals on the Eastern Seaboard with the ability to serve the largest ocean-going ships in the world, and the only one served by two rail lines — Norfolk Southern and CSX Transportation. With an annual through-put capacity of 15 million tons of coal, the Terminal’s infrastructure and ground storage allow for highly specific blending capabilities to meet customer demands. The Terminal has processed over ten million tons of coal per annum on average since 2010, exported a record 14.284 million tons in 2017, and set a monthly record in March 2015 of 1.854 million tons exported.
